Hasselt celebrates Genever weekend

hasselt_square2Next weekend, from the 20th of the Saturday until Sunday  is going to be the “Hasselt’s Genever Festival” in the centre of Hasselt. There will be a mix of music, theatre, culinary attractions and Genever

Genever’s city celebrate two days to taste the typical drink with three different programs for the weekend: one in the National Genever Museum, other is the culinary program and the last one is a program of different activities around the city.

 

 

National Museum of Genever

People can visit the National Museum of Genever for free and see the exhibition “Magnifique- Hasselt ceramics speak” where will be dishes, bottles, that were produced in Hasselt in the 20th century. On Saturday, at three o’clock will be a taste of the gin distilled in the 19th century. Furthermore people can prepare a cocktail and finally experts will select the best.

Other activity is a visit with free tasting at Distillery Subs In the Normandy Street 12 to 14, on Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 19 hours of free guided tours with tasting gin. Tourist can taste a mix of chocolate and gin in the Chocolate House where they make chocolates with a lot of types of gin: cocoa gin, gin spiced, gin chocolate balls…

Music and theatre

Different music groups like Murga Agrum Fanfare, Fun vocal or Full Petaj will be in Hasselt. Carillonneurs will play on Saturday and Sunday at 13, 15 and 17 hours in the carillon of Hasselt. There are a lot of performance too. The company Banneuxkes play on Sunday at Green Square at the Hasselt City Hall.

Culinary program

Restaurants will prepare different dishes whit gin. They have done a brochure with special menus for tourist that is in the Nacional Genever Museum.
