Obama wins 2009 Nobel Peace prize

Obama win the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize in a surprising voting. The President of de United States of America accepted this decision and understands this award like a call to action.

On the other hand, Obama has been honest and he recognized that: “I feel that I do not deserve to be in company of so many people transformes that has been gained this award.

The Nobel Committee said he won it for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples”.

The committee highlighted Mr Obama’s efforts to support international bodies and promote nuclear disarmament. The Nobel laureate chosen by a five member committee wins a gold medal, a diploma and 10m Swedish kronor ($1.4m).

More people do not understand this decision, because Barack Obama he has been like a President Of The United States only 9 months, and also, the population starts questioning seriously the success of his principal decisions, so much international as servants and your popularity has decreased. Some said they saw the prize as a way of encouraging the US leader early in his presidency.

The reactions about this decision are very differents, Mohamed ElBaradei, the head of the UN’s nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, said he could not think of anyone more deserving of the award. French President Nicolas Sarkozy said the award confirmed “America’s return to the hearts of the people of the world”.

The Nowegian Committee said about this choice:   “Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” The president of this court, Thorbjoern Jagland, has compared this award with the other award gave to Willy Brandt and Mijail Gorbachov with the intention of simulating the ostpolitik and the perestroika.

The Nobel prize was invented by the Swedish industrialist and inventor of dynamite Alfred Nobel, and was first awarded in 1901.Mr Obama is the first US president to win the prize since former US President Jimmy Carter in 2002. Former vice-president Al Gore shared the prize in 2007. Among earlier US leaders, Theodore Roosevelt won the prize in 1906 and Woodrow Wilson won it in 1919.
