VENDETTA vs BELGACOM
Belgian hacker called Vendetta, threats to the telephone company Belgacom to spread thousands of customers’ data and passwords, if the company does not cease its policy of use of personal data.

The Belgacom building in Brusseles
Belgacom Group (Euronext Brussels: BELG) is the belgian benchmark provider of the integrated telecommunications services.
Backed by its experience as the country’s national operator, and combined with its ability to innovate, the Belgacom Group, through the strong brands of its subsidiaries (Belgacom, Proximus, Telindus and Skynet), provides a full range of solutions and knowledge to individuals, professionals, businesses or agencies.
Its safety was questioned last night, when the Hacker revealed more than thirty names and passwords from this company. It also threatened to keep revealing this private information, unless the company changes its restrictions on use of personal data.

The nonidentity of hackers
Currently the company is trying to verify if these user names and password, are those of their users, and promises to investigate and sue this person, altough is guilty of a crime or just a joker, because this news affects the image of the company.
Once more, the security of this giant with feet of clay called new technologies, is questioned.

He did not object to the restrictions on use of personal data, he objected to the traffic quotas imposed on costumers of Belgacom. They restrict the growth of internet-based economy (e.g. online movie rentals and software sales) because the quotas are not growing with the demand for larger files.
